This Jalapeño Cranberry Cream Cheese Dip is a creamy, sweet, and spicy appetizer that comes together in under 15 minutes. Perfect for holidays, game days, or any gathering, it features a whipped cream cheese base with tart cranberries, fresh jalapeño, and a hint of honey and lime.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1–2 fresh jalapeños, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus more for garnish
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted (optional for topping)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese: Take your cream cheese out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before you start. Unwrap the blocks and place them in your mixing bowl.
  2. Whip the cream cheese: Using your electric mixer on medium speed, beat the cream cheese for 2-3 minutes until it’s completely smooth, light, and fluffy. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl with your rubber spatula halfway through.
  3. Add the seasonings: Add the honey, fresh lime juice, ground cumin, and salt to the whipped cream cheese. Beat on low speed until everything is well combined, about 30 seconds. Stop and scrape the bowl again.
  4. Prepare the jalapeño: While the cream cheese is softening, dice your jalapeño(s). Cut off the stem, slice the pepper in half lengthwise, and use a small spoon to scrape out the seeds and white membranes. Then dice the flesh into tiny pieces—about 1/8 inch. Set aside a teaspoon of the diced jalapeño for garnish if desired.
  5. Fold in the cranberry sauce: Open your can of cranberry sauce and give it a stir in the can to break up any large clumps. Add it to the cream cheese mixture. Using your rubber spatula, gently fold the cranberry sauce into the cream cheese. Don’t overmix—you want beautiful ribbons of cranberry running through the white cream cheese.
  6. Fold in the jalapeño and cilantro: Add the diced jalapeño (save that teaspoon for garnish if you want) and the chopped cilantro to the bowl. Fold them in gently, just until distributed.
  7. Chill the dip: Transfer the dip to your serving bowl, cover it tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Add toppings and serve: Just before serving, remove the plastic wrap. If you’re using the toasted pecans or walnuts, sprinkle them over the top. Add the reserved diced jalapeño and a few small cilantro leaves for a pop of color. Serve with sturdy tortilla chips, crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetable sticks.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften at room temperature for at least 30 minutes for best texture. For milder heat, remove all seeds and membranes from jalapeño. The dip is even better when made a day ahead. Add nut topping just before serving to keep it crunchy.
