A tart, fizzy, and cozy non-alcoholic holiday drink made with fresh ginger, cranberry juice, and ginger beer. Ready in under 5 minutes, it’s perfect for parties or quiet nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (about half a lime)
  • 1/2 cup 100% pure cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup ginger beer (recommended: Fever-Tree or Q Mixers)
  • Ice cubes (large, clear preferred)
  • For garnish: fresh cranberries, lime slice, fresh rosemary sprig (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger using the edge of a spoon. Slice into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick.
  2. Place the sliced ginger and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar in the bottom of a copper mug or highball glass. Muddle with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon for 30-45 seconds until the ginger releases its juices and becomes aromatic.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice and stir to combine.
  4. Pour in 1/2 cup cranberry juice and stir gently.
  5. Fill the glass with ice cubes almost to the top.
  6. Slowly pour 1/2 cup ginger beer over the ice to avoid excessive fizzing.
  7. Stir gently from bottom to top about 5-6 times to combine without losing carbonation.
  8. Garnish with fresh cranberries, a lime slice, and a sprig of fresh rosemary (slap the rosemary between your palms first to release oils). Serve immediately.

Notes

For a party, prep the ginger-lime-sugar mixture up to 2 hours ahead and store covered in the fridge. Assemble drinks just before serving. Use large, clear ice cubes to slow melting. Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or using cranberry juice cocktail. For a sugar-free version, use sugar-free ginger beer and a monk fruit sweetener.
