Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended for juiciness)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 10 mini slider buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese, halved
  • Pickles, sliced (optional)
  • Yellow mustard and ketchup for serving
  • 3 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 4 ears of corn, husks removed
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup feta cheese, cubed
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Wooden skewers
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 package angel food cake, cubed
  • 2 cups whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sliders (15-20 minutes): In a medium bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Form into 10 small patties, about 2 inches in diameter. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F or 190°C). Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, adding cheese slices in the last minute to melt. Toast buns lightly on the grill.
  2. Make the Creamy Coleslaw (10 minutes): In a large bowl, combine shredded green and purple cabbage with grated carrot. In a separate small bowl, whisk mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper. Pour dressing over veggies and toss until well coated. Chill until ready to serve.
  3. Grill the Corn and Assemble Salad (15 minutes): Place husked ears directly on the grill, turning occasionally until charred spots appear (about 10 minutes). Let cool slightly, then cut kernels off the cob. Mix corn with chopped red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Assemble Watermelon Feta Skewers (10 minutes): Thread watermelon cubes, feta, and mint leaves alternately on skewers. Keep chilled until serving.
  5. Build the Patriotic Berry Trifle (10 minutes): In a large clear container or individual cups, layer angel food cake cubes, strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up. Keep refrigerated until serving.

Notes

Prep the coleslaw and berry trifle the night before to save time and enhance flavors. Use a meat thermometer to ensure sliders reach 160°F for safety. Keep cold foods chilled to prevent spoilage. For vegetarian options, swap sliders with grilled portobello mushrooms or black bean patties. Gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps can be used to accommodate dietary needs.
