A creamy and spicy buffalo chicken dip with a tangy blue cheese swirl, perfect for game day or casual parties. This easy recipe balances bold flavors with a smooth texture and is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie recommended)
  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup (75g) blue cheese crumbles
  • 1 cup (115g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh chives or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and buffalo wing sauce. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add shredded chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Fold gently to combine.
  4. Transfer half of the mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Scatter half the blue cheese crumbles over the layer.
  6. Add the remaining buffalo chicken mixture on top and smooth out.
  7. Top with remaining blue cheese crumbles and use a toothpick or knife tip to swirl the crumbles into the top layer.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges bubble and top is golden brown. Optionally broil for 2-3 minutes for a crispier finish, watching carefully.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes to thicken.
  10. Garnish with chopped fresh chives or parsley if desired and serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese to avoid lumps. Swirling blue cheese instead of mixing it in preserves distinct flavor pockets. Adjust buffalo sauce amount to control heat. Can be assembled ahead and baked before serving. For vegan or dairy-free versions, substitute cream cheese and sour cream with plant-based alternatives and use jackfruit or chickpeas instead of chicken.
