Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (45g) rolled oats (old-fashioned recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon (12g) chia seeds
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk of choice (whole, 2%, almond, oat, or coconut milk)
  • ¼ cup (60g) Greek yogurt (optional; can substitute with coconut or almond yogurt for dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) maple syrup, honey, or agave (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) vanilla extract
  • Berry Burst: ½ cup (75g) mixed berries (fresh or frozen), 1 tablespoon chopped almonds
  • Peanut Butter Banana: ½ mashed ripe banana, 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter, sprinkle of cinnamon
  • Chocolate Coconut: 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon shredded coconut, 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips
  • Apple Cinnamon: ½ cup diced apple, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
  • Mango Lime: ½ cup diced fresh mango, 1 teaspoon lime zest, 1 tablespoon chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add ½ cup milk of your choice and ¼ cup Greek yogurt. Stir gently until evenly combined.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon maple syrup and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix well and taste to adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Divide the base mixture evenly into 5 jars (about ¾ cup or 180ml per jar).
  5. Add mix-ins to each jar accordingly: Berry Burst with mixed berries and almonds; Peanut Butter Banana with mashed banana, peanut butter, and cinnamon; Chocolate Coconut with cocoa powder mixed into base, shredded coconut, and dark chocolate chips; Apple Cinnamon with diced apple, cinnamon, and walnuts; Mango Lime with diced mango, lime zest, and pistachios.
  6. Seal jars tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight to allow oats to absorb liquid and thicken.
  7. Before serving, stir the oats to combine any separated liquid. Add extra milk if desired. Enjoy cold or warm gently in the microwave for 30-60 seconds.

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture; chia seeds help thicken the oats; do not over-sweeten as fruit and vanilla add natural sweetness; layering fruit on top keeps it fresh; stir oats before warming to avoid clumps; can prepare multiple jars at once for easy grab-and-go breakfasts; dairy-free and vegan substitutions available; oats keep up to 5 days refrigerated; can freeze but texture may change.
