A quick and elegant autumn charcuterie board featuring crisp Honeycrisp apples, sharp cheddar, smoked Gouda, and sweet figs, designed to impress guests with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • Artisan Crackers (mix of water crackers and seeded flatbreads)
  • Baguette Slices (toasted)
  • Pretzel Rods
  • Sharp Cheddar (aged, cut into cubes or wedges)
  • Cream Cheese or Brie (wheel, at room temperature)
  • Smoked Gouda (sliced)
  • Honeycrisp Apples (firm, sliced into wedges or half-moons)
  • Fresh Figs (or dried figs)
  • Dried Apricots
  • Candied Pecans
  • Whole Grain Mustard
  • Honey (local preferred)
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash Honeycrisp apples thoroughly and slice into thin wedges or half-moons. If not serving immediately, keep in water with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Arrange artisan crackers on the board, fanning them out or stacking them slightly to leave space for other items.
  3. Place cheese blocks on the board. Cut cheddar into cubes and Gouda into slices. Position the cream cheese wheel in the center or side.
  4. Arrange apple slices around the cheeses. Add dried apricots and figs, grouping similar colors together for a cohesive look.
  5. Scatter candied pecans and pretzel rods in the empty spaces on the board.
  6. Place small ramekins or bowls containing whole grain mustard and honey on the board. Drizzle a little honey over the cheese.
  7. Add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for color and aroma as a final touch.

Notes

Bring cheeses to room temperature 30 minutes before serving for optimal flavor. To prevent apples from browning, toss slices in water and lemon juice. Avoid overcrowding the board; leave breathing room between items. For a vegan version, use vegan cheese and substitute honey with agave nectar.
