These fun and festive mummy hot dogs are a stress-free, spooky treat perfect for Halloween parties. Made with simple ingredients like hot dogs and puff pastry, they are quick to assemble, delicious, and kid-friendly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 package refrigerated dough sticks or puff pastry sheets
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Black olives, sliced into thin rounds (for eyes)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for dipping)
  • Butter, melted (optional, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Unroll dough sticks or cut puff pastry sheets into 1-inch wide strips.
  4. Wrap a strip of dough around each hot dog, spiraling from bottom to top, leaving a small gap at the top for the face. Press the end to secure.
  5. Place two slices of black olive on the exposed top of each hot dog to create eyes.
  6. Brush the dough strips lightly with the egg wash mixture.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before serving with mustard or ketchup.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent sticking. Leave space between mummies on the baking sheet to allow for puffing. If using candy eyes, add them after baking. Can be frozen before baking and baked from frozen, adding 5-7 minutes to cook time.
