Easy Halloween Skull Charcuterie Board in 10 Minutes

Easy Halloween Skull Charcuterie Board in 10 Minutes - featured image

A spooky yet simple charcuterie board shaped like a skull, made in just 10 minutes with everyday ingredients. Perfect for Halloween parties, this no-bake appetizer is a crowd-pleaser that looks impressive with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces hard cheese (like cheddar or gouda)
  • 4 to 6 ounces sliced salami or pepperoni
  • 3 to 4 ounces prosciutto or ham
  • 1 cup crackers or crostini
  • ½ cup olives (green or black), pitted
  • ½ cup grapes or cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ cup nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • Skull-shaped cookie cutter (about 3 inches wide)

Instructions

  1. Press the skull shape into the cheese (2 minutes): Take your block of cheddar and place it on the cutting board. Press the skull cookie cutter firmly into the cheese—you might need to wiggle it a bit. If the cheese is too hard, let it sit at room temperature for 5 minutes first. You should hear a slight crunch as the cutter goes through. Lift the cutter and pop out the skull shape. If the edges are ragged, trim them with a small knife.
  2. Arrange the skull on the board (1 minute): Place the cheese skull in the center of your serving board. Position it slightly off-center if you want room for other items. The skull should be facing forward, like it’s looking at your guests. If it wobbles, press it down gently.
  3. Layer the meats around the skull (3 minutes): Fold or roll your salami slices and arrange them in a crescent shape around the top of the skull. Drape the prosciutto loosely near the bottom. The meats should look like a spooky collar or cape—think vampire vibes. Don’t overthink this; just let them fall naturally.
  4. Add the crackers and bread (2 minutes): Place crackers in small clusters around the board, leaving gaps for the other ingredients. I like to fan them out in groups of three or four. If you’re using crostini, stack them slightly for height.
  5. Fill in with olives, grapes, and nuts (2 minutes): Spoon the olives into a small bowl and place it near the top of the board. Scatter grapes and nuts in the empty spaces. The goal is to fill the board so no bare spots show. You should see a mix of colors—green grapes, black olives, brown nuts—against the orange cheese skull.
  6. Final touch—add the eyes (optional, 1 minute): If you want the skull to look extra spooky, press two olive slices into the cheese for eyes. Use a small knife to carve a little mouth shape. It’s a tiny detail that makes a big impression. Your guests will notice immediately.
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate: This board is best served within 30 minutes of assembly. If you’re making it ahead, cover it loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving so the cheese softens slightly.

Notes

Use room-temperature cheese to prevent cracking. Don’t overfill the board; leave about 20% visible. Layer for height with small bowls and stacked crackers. Prep all ingredients before starting. If the cheese skull breaks, press pieces back together—the other ingredients will hide the crack.
