A quick and easy slider trio recipe using sweet Hawaiian rolls with three distinct fillings: BBQ pulled pork, teriyaki chicken with pineapple, and spicy jalapeño cheese. Perfect for tailgate parties and crowd-pleasing gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12-count Hawaiian rolls (classic sweet rolls)
  • For the BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders:
  • 2 cups pulled pork (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s preferred)
  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Pickles, sliced (optional)
  • For the Teriyaki Chicken Sliders:
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • ½ cup teriyaki sauce (with ginger kick, e.g., Kikkoman)
  • ½ cup crushed pineapple, drained (fresh or canned)
  • Green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • For the Spicy Jalapeño Cheese Sliders:
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 2 jalapeños, seeded and finely chopped (adjust for heat preference)
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping tops and bottoms intact. Place bottom halves in a 9×13 inch baking dish to form one even layer. (5 minutes)
  2. Mix 2 cups pulled pork with 1 cup BBQ sauce until well coated. Spread evenly over one third of the bottom rolls. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and add pickles if using. (10 minutes)
  3. Toss cooked shredded chicken with teriyaki sauce and crushed pineapple. Spread this mixture over the next third of the rolls. Garnish with green onions. (10 minutes)
  4. Combine softened cream cheese, shredded pepper jack, chopped jalapeños, and smoked paprika in a bowl. Spread this mixture over the remaining third of the rolls. (5 minutes)
  5. Place the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls over all fillings, pressing gently to compact slightly. (2 minutes)
  6. Cover baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and tops are slightly golden. (20-25 minutes)
  7. Let sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing between each roll to serve individual portions. (5 minutes)

Notes

Toast Hawaiian rolls lightly before assembling if they are very fresh to avoid sogginess. Use foil during initial baking to keep rolls soft and melty. Prepare fillings a day ahead to meld flavors and reduce stress. Serrated knife recommended for slicing after baking. For smoky flavor, add smoked paprika or liquid smoke to pulled pork mix. Can be cooked in a slow cooker on low for 2-3 hours as an alternative method.
