A quick and easy grilled salmon recipe featuring a tangy-sweet maple Dijon glaze with fresh lemon, perfect for weeknight dinners or outdoor cooking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Juice of 1 medium lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (dill or parsley) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by whisking together maple syrup, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, salt (about Β½ teaspoon), and pepper (about ΒΌ teaspoon) in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400Β°F / 200Β°C). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Cook for 5-6 minutes without moving to achieve crispy skin.
  5. Flip the fillets carefully using tongs and grill the other side for another 4-6 minutes. Baste the top of the fillets with extra marinade after flipping.
  6. Remove salmon from grill and let rest for 3-5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  7. Garnish with fresh dill or parsley and serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Notes

Keep the skin on the salmon for crispy texture and to hold the fillet together. Flip only once to avoid breaking the fillet. Marinate for no longer than 30 minutes to prevent the acid in lemon juice from breaking down the fish texture. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness at 125Β°F (52Β°C) for medium-rare. If grilling indoors, a cast-iron grill pan works well. For easy cleanup, wrap grill pan in foil. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently in a low oven.
