A sweet, boozy Southern style peach bourbon sweet tea made with peach preserves and bourbon, perfect for summer evenings and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 black tea bags
  • 8 cups (1.9 liters) filtered water
  • 1 cup (320g) peach preserves
  • Β½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh peach slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring 8 cups (1.9 liters) of filtered water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat, add 6 black tea bags, and steep for 8 minutes.
  2. While the tea is hot, stir in 1 cup (320g) peach preserves and Β½ cup (100g) granulated sugar until fully dissolved, using a whisk or wooden spoon to break down lumps.
  3. Let the tea come to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill thoroughly.
  4. Once chilled, stir in 1 cup (240ml) bourbon and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Taste and adjust sugar or lemon if needed.
  5. Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the peach bourbon sweet tea over, and garnish with fresh peach slices if desired.

Notes

Do not steep tea longer than 8 minutes to avoid bitterness. Add bourbon only after tea is chilled to preserve alcohol flavor. Rimming glasses with sugar adds a festive touch. Tea base can be made a day ahead and stored refrigerated. For non-alcoholic version, omit bourbon and add peach nectar or sparkling water.
