This Perfect Caramel Apple Sangria is a sweet, boozy fall cocktail that tastes like autumn in a glass. Made with white wine, caramel vodka, apple cider, and fresh fruit, it’s quick to prepare and perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) caramel vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) apple brandy or Calvados
  • 1 cup (240 ml) apple cider (unfiltered)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) caramel syrup
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples, sliced
  • 1 medium Bosc pear, sliced
  • 1 cup (150 g) seedless red grapes, halved
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) pomegranate arils (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) caramel syrup (for rim)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) coarse sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons (25 g) brown sugar
  • Fresh apple slices (for garnish)
  • Cinnamon sticks (2-3, for garnish)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Wash and dry all fruit. Core the apples and pear, then slice into thin rounds or half-moons (about 1/4-inch thick). Cut grapes in half lengthwise. Toss apple and pear slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Make the salted caramel rim: In a small shallow dish, mix coarse sea salt and brown sugar. Pour caramel syrup into another small dish. Dip rim of each glass into caramel syrup, then into salt-sugar mixture. Set aside to dry.
  3. Combine liquid ingredients: In a large pitcher, pour white wine, caramel vodka, apple brandy, apple cider, caramel syrup, and lemon juice. Stir gently with a wooden spoon. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.
  4. Add fruit: Gently add apple slices, pear slices, halved grapes, and pomegranate arils to the pitcher. Stir once more to distribute without mashing the fruit.
  5. Chill: Cover pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight (12-24 hours for best flavor).
  6. Serve: Give the pitcher a gentle stir. Fill salted caramel-rimmed glasses with ice. Use a slotted spoon to add marinated fruit to each glass. Pour sangria over fruit. Garnish with fresh apple slice, cinnamon stick, and rosemary sprig.
  7. Optional: Add a splash of sparkling apple cider or club soda right before serving for fizz.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sangria marinate overnight (12-24 hours). The salted caramel rim is highly recommended for the best taste. Use a dry white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit can be eaten after drinking the sangria. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
