A fun and easy Halloween-themed charcuterie board featuring mummy-wrapped cheese sticks and olive spiders, perfect for last-minute spooky gatherings.

Ingredients

  • String cheese sticks or mozzarella sticks
  • Black olives, pitted and sliced
  • Crackers (water crackers, rye crisps, or buttery rounds)
  • Cream cheese or soft cheese spread
  • Pre-made puff pastry or crescent roll dough, thin strips
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme sprigs)
  • Optional extras: sliced salami, mini pretzels, roasted nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out puff pastry or crescent roll dough thinly on a floured surface and cut into 1/4 inch wide strips.
  2. Wrap each string cheese stick loosely with dough strips, leaving gaps to resemble mummy bandages. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Use small dots of cream cheese as glue and place tiny bits of black olive or peppercorns on top for mummy eyes.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is golden and puffed, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  5. Slice black olives in half for spider bodies and cut thin slices for legs (about 6 legs per spider). Assemble spiders on the serving board.
  6. Arrange crackers as the base, then place mummy cheese sticks scattered around.
  7. Dot olive spiders in corners or along edges of the board.
  8. Add halved cherry tomatoes and tuck fresh rosemary sprigs around the board for a spooky forest effect.
  9. Fill gaps with optional extras like sliced salami, mini pretzels, or roasted nuts.
  10. Optionally, brush everything lightly with olive oil or sprinkle flaky sea salt for extra flavor.

Notes

Do not wrap dough too tightly around cheese sticks to maintain a ragged mummy look. Keep oven temperature steady to avoid burning or undercooking dough. Assemble olive spiders just before serving to prevent sogginess. Use a damp paper towel to clean any stray cream cheese or olive juice for neat presentation.
