Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Chex cereal (mix of Rice Chex and Corn Chex)
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks (broken in half)
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (salted peanuts and cashews)
  • 1 cup cheese crackers (optional, e.g., Goldfish or Cheez-Its)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl: Chex cereal, broken pretzel sticks, mixed nuts, and cheese crackers (if using). Toss gently.
  3. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in 20-second intervals. Whisk in ranch seasoning, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  4. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dry ingredients.
  5. Toss everything together with a spatula or your hands until every piece is coated.
  6. Spread the mixture in a single even layer on a large rimmed baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely on the baking sheet (about 30 minutes) before storing.

Notes

Let the mix cool completely before storing to maintain crunch. For best flavor, use fresh herbs. If using dried herbs, use half the amount and crush them before adding. The mix tastes even better the next day.
