A simple, refreshing summer drink made with watermelon, fresh mint, lime juice, water, and a touch of sweetener. Perfect for hot days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups seedless watermelon cubes (about 1 small to medium watermelon)
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from 1 to 2 limes)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar, honey, or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut seedless watermelon into cubes, about 6 cups (900 g).
  2. In a blender, add watermelon cubes, fresh mint leaves, 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, and 1 cup (240 ml) cold water. Blend on high for about 1 minute until smooth and fragrant.
  3. Taste the mixture. Add 1 tablespoon of sweetener and blend again for 10 seconds. Adjust lime juice and sweetener to preference. If too thick, add remaining water and blend briefly.
  4. Optional: Pour the blended juice through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove pulp and mint bits, pressing pulp gently with a spoon.
  5. Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve over ice cubes with a sprig of mint or lime wedge garnish.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best flavor. Avoid over-blending to keep fresh taste. Adjust sweetness and lime gradually. Straining is optional depending on texture preference. Can substitute sparkling water for half the water for a fizzy twist. Store leftovers in refrigerator up to 2 days and stir before serving.
